The brand philosophy of RUOSMIBO originates from a single thought: We come from nature, we live within nature, and we will eventually return to nature. Yet now, we have lost nature.
Humans were once intimately embraced by nature. In ancient times, the footsteps of hunters traversed the wilderness, and the tent was a shelter bestowed upon us by nature. With branches as its frame, vines as its ropes, grass and leaves as its outer layer, and animal hides as its curtain, for the people of that time, every part of the tent was steeped in nature’s care. They could reach out and touch nature, coexisting with it, moving forward together with it.
Gradually, with the rise of agriculture, people shifted from being wanderers to settlers. As seeds took root and sprouted in the earth, people yearned to build a closer relationship with the land, giving birth to houses. Unlike tents, houses represented a more active transformation of nature—walls made of packed earth and straw, foundations of carved stone, beams and pillars of sawed timber. Relying on houses, people lived through eras sheltered from wind and rain.
People of the agricultural age still maintained an extremely close relationship with nature. However, in the tide of industrial civilization, people gradually moved into cages built of steel and concrete, using cold industrial materials to completely isolate themselves from nature. We live in towering buildings but can no longer smell the fragrance of earth; we have rooms with constant temperature and humidity but can no longer feel the rhythm of the changing seasons; we use air conditioning to regulate temperature but can no longer experience the delight of a gentle breeze on our faces. We come from nature, yet in our pursuit of stability, we have utterly lost it.
This is where RUOSMIBO’s brand philosophy stems from. We are weary of the numbness of steel and concrete; we long to touch nature once again—to feel the desert wind, touch flowing water, and gently inhale the scent of soil. Nature is full of power. Whenever and wherever we face nature directly, while awestruck by its grandeur, we ourselves become filled with strength. This strength is enough to soothe our nerves and heal our souls. Therefore, we call on everyone to return to nature, to use its power to comfort our numb selves in urban life.
While deeply exploring the concept of returning to nature, we considered many elements and ultimately chose the tent as the carrier of our brand, even incorporating a figurative tent design into our brand logo.
We believe that the return to the tent is humanity’s look back and redemption towards nature, a profound longing for the natural world. Modern tents made of canvas and nylon, though bearing the marks of industry, offer humans the chance to return to nature’s embrace. Through tents, we can witness the journey of the sun and moon, the transformation of the seasons, and the lay of mountains and rivers. Through tents, we can immerse ourselves in nature and feel it.
With the brand’s main subject established, we began to clarify some scattered concepts.
First, categorizing those who choose camping.
The first category is those seeking themselves. Life’s adventures are always full of challenges. People yearn for the poetic nature and unknown realms, hoping to refine themselves while finding joy for the soul. For them, travel is not about reaching certain scenery or achieving specific outcomes, nor is it about proving the brilliance of life. Existence itself is the greatest meaning of our lives, and every experience shapes a better self.
The second category is those who Illuminating Each Other. The first stage of friendship is empathizing with each other’s joys and sorrows and appreciating the nobility of each other’s souls. The second stage is cultivating friendship through dialogue, reflection, and exploration, striving together for a better world. Exploring nature together is one way to cultivate friendship. Nature is a realm containing the truths of all things. Even with different understandings of nature, the collision of thoughts can still elevate friendship. We hope RUOSMIBO can be the creator and witness of your journey towards a better world.
The third category is those rediscovering genuine affection. The warmth among family members is seen by many as enduring and gentle, reflected in daily, meticulous care. However, as the pace of civilization accelerates, familial bonds gradually erode amidst life’s complexities. When we immerse ourselves in nature, every heartbeat is infinitely amplified. When resting within the same tent, the breaths of family members become incredibly close. We strive to capture that ultimate tranquility and profound excitement to rediscover that lost emotion.
The fourth category is those pursuing eternity. Regarding love, we delve into the concepts of eternity and the moment to explain the brand’s understanding of true feelings. Facing a loved one, a heartbeat of affection might be just an instant—perhaps moved by the genuine essence of the other, or stirred by the dance of hormones, or drawn together by similar souls. In that moment, the joy of the heart reaches its peak. We believe the sincerity of that moment is real enough and wish to shape this concept into eternity. One moment of affection may not linger long, but if countless moments of affection are always associated with the same person, this love gradually becomes eternal through repeated heartbeats. We hope to create continuous moments of affection for our users in the future, crafting more stories about eternity.
Next, we further deepen the brand concept. To achieve this, we continuously develop our brand philosophy from three aspects: Nature, Process, and Freedom.
On the level of Nature, we select a single branch to spark thought,discern the philosophy of nature, and resolve life’s dilemmas. We see on a green branch: a bud breaking through brown bark, bathing in the hope of spring sunlight; dyed green by the summer wind buzzing with cicadas; infused with autumn frost into its brown veins; until sleeping under snow, becoming nourishment for a new spring. In the next cycle, next spring will become the spring of the following year, and fallen leaves become the tree’s rings. Countless springs provide the ink for the branch’s rings, until the branch holds up a green canopy. Through the story of the branch, we clearly understand that nature continuously advances through cycles, and as humans, we will ultimately step into the future. Since we cannot stop, there’s no need to overly worry about life’s gains and losses, for the sun rises anew each day. The cycle of leaves also mirrors the reality of life: we all experience remarkably similar days. But just as leaves become the tree’s rings, each day we experience shapes a better self, accompanying us into the next tomorrow. Through the branch’s story, we understand that even as we gradually distance ourselves from nature, nature has never abandoned us. When we fully align with nature, it still grants us infinite strength to overcome any of life’s dilemmas.
Regarding the debate on the importance of Process versus Outcome, choices differ under different circumstances. In most cases, both process and outcome hold significant weight. However, within RUOSMIBO’s brand philosophy, we place extreme emphasis on the process, asserting that the journey itself is greater than the destination. When you choose camping, you will witness the flourishing and withering of flowers and grass, the sky washed by rain, the majestic momentum of mountains and rivers. More importantly, you will witness your inner growth, and the essence of life will accumulate alongside nature’s progression. You will step onto a life path filled with hope, where temporary gains and losses are merely bubbles along the way.
After exploring the philosophy of Nature and Process, the brand philosophy might seem complete. However, while discussing these concepts, we inevitably extended our thoughts to Freedom, and thus incorporated our reflections on freedom into our brand philosophy. What is freedom? In the public understanding, freedom is lack of restraint, being free and unfettered, doing whatever one wants, casting all concerns aside. But upon deeper reflection, we believe such freedom is not suitable as our brand philosophy. We believe freedom is freedom with limits, a freedom without regret. If, for a moment’s freedom, you make a decision that severely impacts your future life and fall into deep regret, then this freedom is not what you imagined. The freedom we define is this: you can choose anything you wish to do, and judge whether you will regret it. If you remain steadfast, then move forward continuously. Only then can you truly embrace freedom. Often, freedom with fetters is the freedom people truly hope for.
